On the other hand, PoS relies on validators who hold a certain amount of cryptocurrency to create new blocks. It is more energy-efficient and scalable compared to PoW. However, PoS may lead to centralization if a few validators control a significant portion of the cryptocurrency supply. Overall, PoW is currently used in Ethereum, but the Ethereum community is working towards transitioning to PoS with the upcoming Ethereum 2.0 upgrade.
