Is there any cryptocurrency project that began its public offering in 1988? I'm curious to know if there were any early attempts at launching a cryptocurrency during that time.

It wasn't until 2009 when Bitcoin, the first decentralized cryptocurrency, was introduced by an anonymous person or group known as Satoshi Nakamoto.

The technology and infrastructure required for cryptocurrencies were still in their infancy at that time. It took several more years for the necessary advancements to be made before the launch of Bitcoin in 2009.
